Marionneaux’s journey is not one of privilege or entitlement, but a testament to the power of perseverance and unwavering determination. Having experienced incarceration himself, he knows firsthand the struggles faced by Black men who re-enter society after serving time. His own experiences with the deeply flawed prison system compelled him to take action and create meaningful change. He sought to address the factors that contribute to recidivism, including limited opportunities, lack of positive role models that can relate, and systemic discrimination.

Hand-picked by the Director of Recovery Services, he played a pivotal role in leading the program for incarcerated individuals. This comprehensive program focused on breaking down addictive behaviors, addressing past traumas, and lifting people up. Corey gained certifications in ADOA, Anger Management Therapy, and the Cognitive Group Intervention Program (CGIP), equipping him with the tools and understanding to support individuals in transforming their futures.

After his last incarceration, Marionneaux worked for a non-profit organization called "Money Education in Prisons" (MEP). Corey realized the importance of housing and employment as crucial stepping stones towards successful reentry into society, further fueling his determination to create a system that offers support and opportunities to individuals seeking a fresh start.

Central to Marionneaux's mission was his groundbreaking program known as Community Restoration. This initiative was designed to provide resources, mentorship, and educational opportunities to empower vulnerable individuals, enabling them to rebuild their lives after release from prison. By incorporating elements of entrepreneurship, job training, and employment, Community Restoration aimed to break the cycle of incarceration and pave a path toward sustainable success. This program was the cornerstone for which Black Men Coalition was built.
